Cassis Colours Challenge

Good morning, hope you are already enjoying your day. Today I have my card for the "Cassis Colour Challenge" over at Meljen's Designs. These colours are aqua, pink, lime, beige/peach; just incase you are like me and not exactly sure what "Cassis Colors" are, giggle. {To me they seem like the beautiful colours you might see in Mexico so I went with that, though I'm thinking my shades might be a bit dark compared to what Dianna was looking for}.The image is by Meljen's, of coarse and is called "Chili Chihuahua" and you can find him right here . I coloured him wioth my Copic markers. The DPs are all by MME. The sentiment is a rubber stamp. I inked the outside edge of the card and added lots of fine line detail to the edges of all the pieces.
So now it's your turn to give Cassis Colours a try. Simply pick your favourite Meljen's image and get colouring. Then make any papercraft project you'd like and add it to our gallery. You can link it up right here. Who knows maybe you will be our next winner.
Until next time.
hugs,
Nancy

Good Sunday Morning to You.

Hope you are looking forward to a wonderful Sunday. Here in Canada we are celebrating Victoria Day this tomorrow, so I am enjoying an extra long weekend.
Today is "Reveal Sunday" at Just Imagine and they have invited the GDs to join in the fun. Our theme this month is "Red. White & Blue", in honour of Victoria Day and Memorial Day (USA). Here is my card.

I went with the CAS look, which is very hard for me to do! I love filling up all those lovely spaces with lots of pretty DPs and embellishments! For paper I used only cardstock. I used Kreaxion punch 302 (without any inserts) to make the pretty border along the bottom of my card. The scripture sentiment is a free digital by StampArt Design by Kathryne. My only embellishments are the button tied with twine & some faux stitching around the sentiment...not bad, yeah!?!
Well, that's it for me. I do hope you will check out what the other Just Imagine DTs & GDTs came up with.
Blessings on your day.
hugs,
Nancy

*** Words with Friends.

Welcome to a new challenge over at Meljen's Designs. This week's theme is "Words With Friends" and we want to see torn word pages on your project. The DPs I used are by Authentique. I love these papers, they are so nice & thick. I inked all the torn edges. The Meljen's image is called "Little Pocket Mice". I used Copics to colour the image and then cut it out, adhering it to the card with a double layer of foam squares. The flowers & leaves were cut using a Spellbinder die. A few pretty buttons for the flower centers. The sentiment is a rubber stamp.
Sure do hope you will play along with us.
hugs,
Nancy

*** A Fun, Quick & Inexpensive Project ***

Hi there! Today is my DT Day over at Meljen's Designs and I thought it would be fun to try creating something other than a card with one of Meljen's adorable images and so I came up with "coasters". Quick and very in-expensive to do, these would make a lovely gift...maybe even for Mother's Day {which is approaching very quickly}.

I decided to work with one of Melissa's new images "Flowers In My Pocket". {It was one of the April New Release Images}. It is just so cheery, it seemed the perfect choice. After printing it on cardstock, {I was going to try it on Kraft but changed my mind and went with plain white}, I coloured it with Copic markers.

I trimmed the image so that there would be a border of tile showing around the edge. Using "decoupage" I adhered the image to the tile. {I bought the plain white ceramic tiles at Home Depot for 28 cents each}.

Let dry. Then I doodled around the top edge where the tile showed, with a blue Sharpie Ultra Fine Marker. Then I added another coat of decoupage. {I ended up giving it 3 coats in total}. Finally, I sprayed it with a clear coat of varathane.

I found some self-sticking, clear rubber, circular thingies at the $ Store to put on each of the bottom 4 corners to prevent the coaster from scratching the table surface. Voila! Done!

I already have family and friends wanting some, so I can safely say I will definitely be making more of these fun coasters. Hope you'll give it a try too!
Hugs, until next time, Nancy

*** What's The Point?

Good morning to you and thanks for stopping by. Today I have my card for the new challenge over at Meljen's Designs. This week's theme is "What's the Point?" We want to see something on your project that has a point; ie a pencil!
For my card I chose pre-coloured "PenPal Mouse" with his sharp little pencil already to write a quick note. You can find him and a whole shop full of other great images right here: http://meljensdesigns.com/
I folder embossed the cardstock background. Added 2 different DP's, a bit of yellow baker's twine and a large brad. The sentiment is computer generated. I also added a fair bit of faux stitiching to tie it all together.
Well, that's it for me...now how about you? I'd love to see what you come up! To join just submit your card right here: http://meljensdesignsdt.blogspot.ca/
Thanks again for stopping by and for all of your lovely comments.
hugs,
Nancy

On Your Mark...

Hope your day is off to a great start and maintains a nice steady pace, just like this sweet Meljen's Design image called Speedy Hare.  He is the focus of my card for this week's challenge "Recycle It - use a recycled item on your card." I used recycled twine ( I wanted a purple shoe lace but didn't want to cut mine up! Yep, my runners are purple, just like his, but with bright orange instead of lime green! Hey, I have to wear a uniform so I make a "statement" with my shoes!)
I had so much fun colouring him up. My DPs are MME {Make a Wish & Lime Twist}. As a School Janitor I am always finding interesting little things - garbage to most but not a card maker - thus the metal star & the perfect piece of green twine. Added a few big buttons, some faux stitching and a computer generated sentiment to finish this card up.
I really do hope you will join us at Meljen's Designs and play along, sharing your own creation using a "recycled item" and a Meljen's image. {Don't forget Melissa has a section of Freebies for yu to pick from}. And please remember to check out what the rest of the DT came up with right here.
hugs,
Nancy

Just a quick note

I found this awesome site and just had to share it with you. Everyday they have  a new list of the sites offering papercraft challenges going on out there. They also list the winners of previous challenges, on a daily basis.  Maybe I'm the last to know about this site {giggle, giggle, a very likely thought! }, but I just thought I'd share it with you anyway...just incase there is someone like me that's not up on these things. Anyway the site is Feline Playful and you can check it out here.
Even though it is raining {lots} here in SW Ontario, I am wishing you all a wonderful sunshiny day...the kind that comes from the inside out.
blessings & hugs,
Nancy
