Remember...

Happy Easter to you. Hope you are having a wonderful day.
Today I have a layout for you. It is my last project as the March Guest Designer at Just Imagine Crafts. I want to say a big "Thank You" to Bev and all the wonderful girls on the JI Design Team. You've all been so  kind and helpful and I have loved working with you this month. Blessings to you all.
This layout is about my niece's grade 8 graduation. Now that is a day to Remember! The Dp's are an assortment of leftovers from my stash box. I used a rubber stamp for the sentiment.  Some pretty ribbon, a few buttons and a large Gerber daisy were used as embellishements. I used  Kreaxion punch # 902 (without insert, insert A and insert B. You can find these awesome punches right here.
Well, that's it for today.
Off I go in search of some chocolate...I'm sure the Easter Bunny must have dropped at least one chocolate egg around here somewhere!
hugs,
Nancy

Good Friday & MD New Release Day.

Blessings to you all on this Good Friday morning. I hope that you will celebrating, not only with Easter Egg hunts and chocolate bunnies, but with thankful hearts for all that this weekend truly is about...the wonderous fullfillment of God's love that started on that first Christmas morning. God really does love us with an amazing love, how blessed we are if we only accept it.
Because I will be enjoying the day with my husband, first at church and than visiting our parents, I decided to post this ahead of time just so you wouldn't miss out on the sweet new images Melissa, from Meljen's Designs has come up with this week. I made this corner bookmark using the image "Flower Power Car" and you can find it {and see that the rest of the DT created} right here. While you at it why not check out this week's Meljen's challenge "Easter Basket". The DT girls have come up with some really great projects to inspire you into playing along with us.
Well, that all for now.
hugs,
Nancy

Let me introduce you....

...to our new blog, "So Very, Very {P}interesting"  .
As a 2013 New Year's resolution we, (my granddaughter, Bellie; daughters; Season (Bellie's Mom); Jasmine (Bellie's Aunt) and myself, decided to try our hand at some of the projects we've pinned from Pinterest. We each wrote out 4 projects, threw them into a hat, had Bellie draw out 13 (we figured we'd do 2 around the Christmas season) and slotted them into the appropriate month. We've been busy scouring Thrift Stores, our basements, garages, junk drawers, etc. looking for the supplies needed to make these projects. The "Hunt" has been a lot of fun in itself, but getting together once a month to create is proving to be a lot of fun as well.
Each month we will have photos of our projects and share with you things we learned that worked out great or that we would change if we tried it again. We will also reveal the next project with a supply list just incase you might like to create a project along with us.
We've picked a wide variety of projects and we have also decided to make at least 2 of each: 1 to keep and 1 to share with a friend.
So without further delay let me introduce you to our first So Very, Very {P}interesting project:  Ceramic Tile Coasters. These were so easy and so very inexpensive to make. Definitely "A Will Do Again Project". Here are the ones I made:

My Keeping Set

My Give Away Set

(I gave the blue set to my sweet SIL, who has her foot in a cast and needed a little something to brighten her day).
So, now I invite to head over to So Very, Very {P}interesting and see how the others did their coasters and find out what our next  So Very, Very {P}interesting project will be.
Blessings & Hugs,
Nancy

Beautiful Things.

Hi there! Today I have another of my Guest Designer projects for Just Imagine Crafts.  This is a very simple card using only cardstock, Kreaxions punch #910 {with insert C on the corners}, Kreaxions Circle Cutter, a rubber stamp {sentiment}, a bit of ribbon and a few pearls. I love how these punches can be used to do edges, corners, and around the inside or outside of a circle. Their circle cutter is so compact & easy to use...a definitely a must have.
I do hope you will take a trip over to the Just Imagine blog and check out the wonderful and inspirational projects by their very talented Design Team.
Hugs & blessings on your day.

A Quick Hello with a New Release

Good Friday to you all. Hope you are looking forward to a relaxing weekend. Today is New Release Day over at Meljen's Designs. This one is called Little Hummingbird and you can check out the others right here. I cut the base using my Creative Memories cutting system. I also used the system to cut out another layer of white cardstock & the DP. I folder embossed the extra white layer before adhereing it to the front. The image is coloured with copics; adding a bit of glitter here & there. A few layered flowers to finish this card up.
Hugs,
Nancy

Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny

I am so glad you stopped by becasue I'd like to invite you to join in our New Challenge over at Meljen's Designs. This week we would like you to make Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny 3"x3" cards.
I knew right away which of Melissa's sweet images I wanted to use...precoloured "Loving Ewe".
When making smaller projects like this Melissa's precoloured images come in so handy. The colour quality is wonderful. You can find them right here in the shop: http://meljensdesigns.com/
Since 3x3 doesn't give you a lot of room to play with I kept these cards fairly simple...a cardstock base (brown) with a rust coloured matt, two different DPs and rounded the corners on everything but the card base.
I do hope you will play along with us. You can enter your project right here: http://meljensdesignsdt.blogspot.ca/

A Little Late But Better Than Never

Well, it's official...Spring is legally here, at least according to the calender now we just need the weather to co operate. It's still just a high of -2 C here in SW Ontario and that's without the wind chill factor! {which is very cold !}.
Anyway, to try to give you a warm, snuggly feeling, I have 2 cards to share with you. Each one features last Friday's New Release Images from Melissa, over at
Meljen's Designs. Yes, I'm a bit late; but like my post title ...Better Late Than Never. {giggle}
This first card features the image "Easter Bunny Cupcake" , and I am going to enter it into the challenge at Simply Create Too, where the ladies are looking for Bunnies.
{Both cards qualify for the following challenges, but alas, I'm not sure how to enter them both from one blog post. I'm going to try from an open gallery, so I'll have to see what happens.}
Crazy 4 Challenges provided this Sketch for their challenge. Party Time Tuesday is hosting a Colour Challenge, so I'm sure this assortment of embossed cardstock will work just fine. {It's so nice to be able to use up some of the stuff that's been hanging around in my scraproom for quite some time now! There are a whole host of Challenge Blogs looking for Easter projects, including: Simon Says, Oldie But A Goodie, Celebrate The Occasion and Twist of Faith, so I'll be entering both of these cards in their challenges, I used a Kreaxions Punch to add the fancy little border.

For card # 2,  I used the Sketch from Crazy 4 Challenges again, but switched the circles for rectangles. This Meljen's Designs image is called Spring Flowers Cupcake. Again I went with soft Spring colours so I think it will also qualify for the Colour challenge at Party Time Tuesdays. Lots of folder embossing again to give new life to plain, old cardstock, which gives it a nice Easter look for the challenges at Simon Says, Oldie But A Goodie, Celebrate the Occasion and Twist of Faith.

Well, that's it for today. Check back tomorrow for my project for the new challenge over at Meljen's Designs.
hugs,
Nancy

***Adorable

Today I have a circle card for you that I made following the sketch for the challenge over at
Fetch A Sketch. The digital image is by Saturated Canary. I just had to buy her; she is so adorable!  I used Copics to colour with; adding a bit of glitter to the ruffles and gold paint pen to the buttons. Over at Simply Create Too, the DT would like to see "Bunnies" this week and I think this little guy will do just fine...just look at that pose! lol. The DP is by MME. To finish this card up I added a satin ribbon, (which is what the girls over at Craft Your Passion are looking for this week), and a few paper flowers with button centers. I'm thinking I can enter this card in the challenge over at
Dutch Dare since they are looking for "Spots & Stripes",{her dress}.
Thank you for all of your lovely comments.
Hope you have a blessed day.
hugs,
Nancy

Spring

What a treat to get an extra day off for March Break! Slept in, packed a bit for my In-Laws (they are moving soon), had a leisurely supper and even had time to make this card. This "lovely" is one of Krista's (Saturated Canary's) beautiful digital images. I used Copics to colour her with; adding some glitter to her dress and gold paint pen to her hair. The DPs are all by MME. The sketch is one (of the two)  for the challenge over at Simon Says.  I added a lot of faux stitching because that's what they'd like to see over at Whimsy Challenges this week. The Dutch Dare team  would like to see "Spots & Stripes" this week , so I used the striped DP and a gold paint pen to add spots to the base DP. I placed a little gathering of lace with a pretty ribbon bow in the corner, to bring a smile to the wonderful folks over at Craft Your Passion
Enjoy your evening.
hugs,
Nancy

*** Something A Little Different

Mixed Media Project

For some reason I have just fallin' in love with Owls & Mixed Media. So a few weekends ago while my granddaughter, Alanna, was over, we decided to have a go at it. Alanna didn't get her's finished before she had to go home so I'll have to get a picture of it from her to show you at a later date. Anyway here is what I came up with. The project base is a piece of flat canvas (81/2"x11"), from the Dollar Store. Then I sprayed it with several different colours of Adirondack colour wash. Using different things as stencils, (ie. broken pieces of pint baskets. stiff ribbon, spatulas, etc), I added molding compound to the different areas. Then I sprayed those areas with paint again. I braided together some old, brown, twisted paper and formed them into branches. I left the ends untwisted to act as leaves. The flowers are just an assortment of buttons that I glued together. To make the scripture verse I cut a strip of cardstock to fit through my Dymo labeller and punched the letters, then touched them up by dabbing with an ink pad. The owls are hand cut from an assortment of left-over scrap papers. I inked some of their edges and folder embossed some of their pieces. The cardstock eyes were drawn on using a Sharpie marker.

Well, that's it! It was a really fun project to do and honestly, not difficult in the least.
Thanks for stopping by and blessings on your day.

                                                                             hugs,

A Little Angel Inspiration

Hope you are enjoying your day. I am so glad you stopped by for a visit. Today I have my monthly Meljen's Designs DT project to share with you. I know it looks like a regular 6x6 card but it is actually a Secret Panel Card. I found this great tutorial on You Tube right here. It's a real easy card to make and so interesting with the extra secret panels.
Here is the inside of the card.
And then you open it again to reveal yet another (inner) inside:

While thinking on this project I was listening to my local Christian Radio Station (UCB) and heard this wonderful song by Francesca Battistelli "Angel By Your Side" and decided to use the lyrics and this sweet Meljen's image "Angel Bear" on my project. As you can see I printed the Angel Bear image several times in 2 different sizes (that's one of the marvellous things about digital images) and then coloured them with my Copics. The lyrics, and front panel sentiment, I simply typed out on my computer. The large image and it's matting were cut using a Spellbinder die; as were the leaves. The flower is hand rolled.
Well, that's it for me. I do hope you check out what the rest of the Meljen's DT are up to and all of Melissa's wonderful images right here.

Nancy

Guest Designer project #2

Hope you all had a wonderful Sunday, I did! Got to be with my 3 grandchildren all day. I really love those guys.
Anyway, that's why the late post today. This is my 2nd project s Guest Designer at Just Imagine Crafts. For this card I used Kreaxions' punch # 910 with stencil A and the positioning parts. You can check it all out on their site right here http://www.justimaginecrafts.typepad.com/
Lots of pretty Spring colours on this card and the digital image is by Meljen's Designs. It's called "PenPal Mouse" and he comes pre-coloured! You can find him right here http://meljensdesigns.com/index.php?main_page=index
Well, that's it for tonight...gotta catch up on that hour of sleep I lost last night, thanks to daylight savings.

Adorable...New Releases

Good Friday morning to you! I am so looking forward to the weekend! In fact next week is "Spring Break" at school; so the pace will be a bit different and as they say "change is as good as a rest": well maybe not quite as good, lol.
Today is new release day over at Meljen's Designs and Melissa has once again come up with a couple of cuties. This one is called "Sleepy Moon Bear". I coloured this up with Copic markers. The DP is by American Crafts. I used a Spellbinder Die to cut out the image and it's mat. I used a Dot embossing Folder on the center strip of cardstock. Sentiment is by Stampin'Up. Added a few puffy stars and some pretty ruffled gingham lace.
Hope you can take a few minutes and check out the new images and what the rest of the Meljen's DT has come up with. Check it out right here: http://meljensdesignsdt.blogspot.ca/
Thanks for stopping by and for all of your sweet comments. Blessings on your day.

Happy St. Patrick's Day Card

Sketch Challenge

Top of the morning to you! Hope you are having a wonderful start to your day. It's time for a new challenge over at Meljen's Designs and this week we would like to see what you will do with our "Sketch Challenge". Here is my take on it. As you can see I followed the sketch to a "T". and since St. Pat's Day is just around the corner I decided to go with the greens. My DPs are an assortment from my scrapbox. I used a bit of distress ink, a couple of glittery foam shamrocks, a computer generated sentiment and this delightful image by Melissa, of Meljen's Designs: Shamrock Bear. I used Copics to colour him up with.
So, now I would love to see what you come up with! Just grab one of your favourite Meljen images and work with this sketch: flip it, turn it or use it as it is, that's up to you. But please share it with us by entering your project in the challenge right here:

Silly, silly You!

Good Sunday afternoon to you all. I am so delighted to share with you my first project as Just Imagine's March Guest Designer. I hope you will take some time to skip over and visit their site http://www.justimaginecrafts.typepad.com/ and check out the wonderful Kreaxions' Punches that they have for sale. For this project, (featuring my lovely granddaughter, Alanna, - and yes she is this crazy and oh so delightful to be with!), I used Kreaxions punch #301 with no insert and their Circle Cutter. These punches are amazing to work with in that you simply add inserts to change how the punch works. You can turn them into  corner, border or inside circle punches! How fun is that! Their Circle Cutter is so simple to use as well. Check them out right here . They have an amazingly talented group of ladies on their Design Team who all work wonders with these punches! Really, you have to see it to believe it!
Now to explain these photos. The first is how my sweet granddaughter looks on a day to day basis. But whenever the kids have a PD day off of school we try to do something fun with them, thus
photo #2 - Mad Scientist Day and photos #3  Photo Booth Dress -Up  Day. The kids love it and it makes the day fun for all of us.
Other elements used on this layout are: assorted DP's from my scrapbox, twine, buttons, pearls, embossing folder, distress ink, Spellbinder die, sticker letters and Dymo labeler.
Thanks for stopping by and please do take a few minutes to check out the amazing things you can do with these Kreaxions' Punches over at Just Imagine.
hugs,
Nancy

I coloured him up with my Copic Markers. My DPs are by MME. Added a few gem stones and some faux stitching and a bit of baker's twine. The sentiment is a rubber stamp by Stampin' Up.
Hope you will take a few minutes and check out what the rest of the Design Team came up with.
