Best Wishes

Wow, can you believe that we are already at the end of January! Time sure does seem to fly right by! I find this happens when I'm busy in my craft room as well. I'll head on down there in the afternoon thinking I'll just spend a few minutes working on a project and the next thing you know I come back up stairs to find the house in complete darkness!
That didn't happen with this card though, because our new challenge over at Meljen's Designs is "Time's Up!", only 30 minutes to make a card. Here is mine:

The base is red card stock, with a layer of folder embossed black card stock. I used white acrylic paint to make the white dots on the embossed design. I used a Martha Stewart punch to create the pretty border, then stamped the sentiment {Stampin' Up} and heat embossed it. A pretty piece of red dotted ribbon was added along the top edge. I printed the Meljen's image "Stitched Fan Flower" onto a piece of gingham DP and fussy cut it out. I simply added a cute button tied with white floss to the flower center. This card came together in no time and guess what...everything was from "My Treasure Box"!!! { Now you know why I had to make this  New Year's resolution a priority; we are talking about one huge Treasure Box full of stuff to use up!}.

Well, that's it for me for today. Hope you got a little inspired to play along with this MD challenge.
I'd love to see what you came up with in 30 minutes!
hugs,
Nancy

{PS} I found that if I take a narrow strip of double sided tape and apply it to a scrap piece of  DP, {that has a straight edge}, and then adhere it to the edge of a piece of computer paper it will run through my printer just fine. That's how I did this flower :)

Lovely Day

Good morning. Isn't it a "Lovely Day". A perfect day for a new challenge, which we happen to have going on over at Meljen's Designs! Our challenge this week is to use stickers on your project {and a Meljen's image of course!}. I decided to make a card using this sweet MD image called "Fancy Butterfly" and a leftover MME chipboard sentiment sticker.

I really like how this turned out and I am especially happy that everything used on this card came from "My {ever so slowly decreasing} Treasure Box"! I printed the image onto a piece of leftover designer paper, fussy cut it out and added some shading using my Copic Markers. I distressed all of the edges with ink and added some "faux stitching".
I sure hope you will give this challenge a go...we love seeing your beautiful work.
Thanks for stopping by.
hugs,
Nancy

Another attempt at CAS

I saw this card layout on Pinterest and thought I'd give it a try. Except for the white cardstock base the entire card I is made up from the goodies in my Treasure Box. The sentiment is a freebie from Free Digital Images. I used several different Spellbinder Dies to cut out the doilies, sentiment matting and the petals behind the button flower. Added some  "faux stitching" to finish it up. Oh yeah, the pretty ribbon flowers along the top I got at Walmart ages ago!
Thanks for stopping by.
Wishing you an enjoyable weekend.

A Perfect Day...

For a Birthday! Yep, today is my husband's birthday! Happy Birthday Dan! I love you and hope day/year is perfect Here is your card, hope you like it.

I don't know why but I find "guy cards" very hard to do. I think it stems from my general problem with making CAS cards; I just have a hard time believing a card is finished until it has flowers, ribbon, lace, etc. on it! But, I have to say I am quite pleased with how this card turned out.
The image is from My Owl Barn and it is actually a free desk top download. They have real great owl images, that are all pre-coloured! Love it!
The rest of the card is all made up of stuff from my "Treasure Box", {except for the cardstock base}. I added a bit of "faux stitching", with a white gel pen, around the image and distress ink to all the edges. The sentiment is a clear stamp that I've had for ages.

Remember there is a new challenge up today over at Meljen's Designs.

Well, that's it for me today; off to enjoy the day with the "Birthday Boy"!
hugs,
Nancy

A Cute Gift Card Holder

To start off this new year I thought I'd share with you a project that I made to help me keep one of my New Year's resolutions ...to use up some of my papercrafting scraps! I really want to try to make my "scrap box" the first place I go to when making a new project. My "scrap box" is filled with bits and pieces of the most wonderful cardstock, designer papers, buttons, ribbons, etc., all of which I loved enough to keep, so why not use them up! In fact, I think I'm going to change the name of my "scrap box" to "My Treasure Chest", because that is exactly what it holds, pretty {and oh so useful} little treasures!
So on to my project! A gift card holder.

These little things come in handy any time of the year and are an excellent way to use some of those pretty treasures found in our "Treasure Boxes". I used Melissa's sweet little image "Ice Skating Mouse", which you can find right here  on the tag. Isn't she the cutest little mouse ever! And she coloured up so quick and easy too! This gift card holder actually comes together quite easily...I even got my hubby to make one! {That's another story for another day, giggle}.

As you can see I was able to use up a lot of different co-ordinating pieces of card stock and designer papers. The "top" of the gift card holder slips into the "envelope-like bottom", creating the look of a gift-wrapped box. Here is a close up of the tag.

Well, I hope I've brought a bit of inspiration into your day. Remember, we love to see your projects using Meljen's images and don't forget our "Anything Goes" challenge happening this week.
Until next time.
hugs,
Nancy

Happy Anniversary Card

Well, today happens to be the start of the 2014 Challenges over at Meljen's Designs, {"Anything Goes" this week!}, and it also happens to be my parents 60th Wedding Anniversary! {Congratulations Mom & Dad! hugs}. So I combined them both and came up with this card:

I used the Meljen's Design image "Stitched Country Heart", which I printed 6 times on MME DP. I then fussy cut them out. The rest of the card is made up from another piece of MME DP, embossed card stock, lace, ribbon, pearls and 2 antique buttons. I used a Spellbinder die to cut the corner accents and a Whimsy Stamp and Die for the sentiment.

Here is a close up of the cute little hearts & lace

I am really pleased with how this turned out... I'm sure Mom & Dad will like it as well.
I hope you will try your hand at the MD "Anything Goes" challenge. Just remember to use a Meljen's image and if you don't have any Melissa has some really cute freebies for you to use right here.
Thanks for stopping by.
hugs,
Nancy
