I Thank God For You.

Good Friday to you. Hope you are looking forward to a nice weekend. Here in Canada we will be having along weekend, celebrating "Labour Day" on Monday. I love long weekends!
Today is New Release Day over at Meljen's Designs and boy has Melissa ever out done herself! All of the images are adorable. (Thanks Melissa). All of them have a "Fall/ Halloween" theme. I know you are going to love them, just head over here to the shop and check them all out:

Even though I coloured them all up as soon as I printed them up, this one "Harvest Bounty", was the first one I made into a card. Fall is my favourite time of the year; I love all the colours that the Fall season brings to SW Ontario. So this image let me use some of those beautiful colours. The DPs are an assortment by Basic Grey. I added a lot of "Faux Stitching", a couple of layered flowers and several buttons. The sentiment is by Stampin'Up.
Thank you for stopping by today and I really do thank God for each and everyone of you, for you bring so much joy to my life with your kind comments.
hugs and blessings,
Nancy
(ps) I see that there are now 50 followers so I'm thinking some "Blog Candy" might be in order. I'll see what I can come up with over the weekend.

My Card For The New Progressive Challenge

Hope your day has gone well. I been very busy at work and very tired by the time I get home, so I haven't accomplished much in the way of papercrafting, though I did get a bit of colouring sone the other da. Hopefully I will be able to get a card together tonight for the sneak preview of the new designs from Meljen's.
This afternoon I would like to share a card I made for the new progressive challenge over at CDAC. We were offered the free image last week and given 1 week to complete the card & email it to Priscilla. Then from all the early enteries she picked out "The Stars" to kick start the challenge. My card wasn't picked as a "Star" but it was fun to make. The winner's cards are wonderful, definitely "Star Material"! Congrats ladies. You can check them out here, as well as how this challenge works and how you can get in on the fun.

For my card I used Copics to colour the image. I used an assortment of DPs including one paper that looked like sand & some real burlap. As embellishments I used some cute wooden stars (for starfish) & some real beach glass. I added a little bit of "faux stitching" to tie it all together.
Well, that's it for now.
hugs,
Nancy

Tea for Three

Hope you're having a good Monday. I'm feeling a little under the weather today, so my sweet husband, aka "My Boss", let me "call in sick".  I'll be happy when this crazy weather system moves on, hopefully taking my headache with it!
Anyway, today I have something a little different for you - a layout. Way back when I started into papercrafting I did a lot of layouts. Albums and albums full of layouts. You see I had boxes and boxes of photos of myself, my husband, our girls, our extended families, grandkids, etc. Well after a few years I pretty much scrapbooked all I needed and wanted to. So except for the occasional holiday or special event I really didn't have any photos worth scrapbooking. (That's when I started card making, using up all that pretty scrap paper).
But, at the beginning of each new school year, I post a layout of our grandkids on the door to our Janitor's Room. We are so blessed that they go to the Christian School where we work. We get to see them every day! Not only do our grandkids love seeing their pictures on our door, but so do the other kids, teachers and visitors. So today I wanted to share it with you.
The DPs are MME. I used my original Sizzix to cut out the lettering for the title. A Spellbinder die was used to cut out the layered flowers. I used some distress ink on the letters, a bit of folder embossing on some of the plain cardstock & flowers and lots of buttons. The photos were taken at a "Garden Tea Party" photo shoot my daughter (Aunt Jazzie to these three) set up. The kids LOVED IT!!! Tea in fancy china cups, being allowed to pour not only tea but milk all by themselves and discovering the "Sugar Cube"! Not to mention the delicious tasting and eye-appealling desserts. In fact, the kids were having so much fun that "Lady Sassafrass" (Aunt Jazzie's little Westie), decided that she want to join in on the fun, taking her weak tea with lots and lots of milk in a saucer. It's little things like this that can turn ordinary days into a day they will never forget.
hugs & blessings,
Nancy

So glad you decided to stop by and visit. I really love it when you do. Please know that I read and enjoy every one of the kind & encouraging comments you leave.
My card for today features another sweet image by Melissa Jenkins of Meljen's Designs. This one is obviously called "If Pigs Could Fly" and you can get it right here

This happens to be my Meljen's DT card for this week's challenge, which is a "Sketch". And here it is

As you can see I stuck to the sketch, I really wanted the focas to be on the image. My DP's are MME. The sentiment is computer generated. Inside the card reads..."with God."
I do hope you will give it a go, we love seeing your beautiful creations.
Simply link up your finished card here:

A Christmas Tag

Here is a quick tag I made up late last night.  I got up a bit early this morning so that I could post it before heading off to work. The image is another adorable, pre-coloured one by Dearie Dolls. DPs are an assortment from my leftover box. I used Spellbinder dies to cut out the image, the circle at the top & the tag base. Some Bakers Twine & 3 cute little wooden stars (my daughter shared these with me...thanks Jazz), to finish this up.

Off to work I go. Blessings on your day,
Nancy

Back To School

Front View
Good morning to you all. Hope you enjoyed your weekend. Our weather has been wonderful here in SW Ontario. Temperatures are in the mid 20C, skies are sunny with lots of big billowy clouds. Simply glorious! Perfect weather for our grandsons; Braden had his first ever baseball tournament, and Zach had his first ever soccer "Day Of Champs". It's so much fun to be a cheering Grandma.
Anyway, speaking of glorious that's what I think of the sweet images by Mary Ellen over at Dearie Dolls. Check them out right here http://deariedollsdigis.blog.com/  and guess what Mary Ellen is giving these adorable images away for free. She offers most of them as "Black & White" or "Pre-Coloured". I really do hope you will go over to her site and pick up a few of her images and please remember to leave her a little bit of love in her comment section.

Side View
For my Easel Card I used a pre-coloured image which I "doctored-up" with a bit of shading using my Copic Markers. My printer doesn't print colour very well so using the markers help to give definition and more character to the image. I used a Spellbinder die to cut out he card base & image. The polka dot is actually fabric that I adhered to cardstock. I added a bit of checkered ribbon, a few gem stones, a pre-made bow and a little school embellishment that I've had kicking around for ever. I added some "Faux Stitching" to kind of tie it altogether.
Well, that's it for today. Hope you'll drop by tomorrow because it's DT day over at Meljen's Designs.
Hugs,
Nancy

Memories

Sorry I've been away so long, it's just been so busy at work. For us school custodians the month of August is a very busy time, trying to get the school "spic and span" before the teachers and students to come back. It is also very exhausting work, so that by the time I get home and fix supper, I'm pretty much done for the day. I did manage to do a little colouring so that should help when I can find a few minutes to assemble some cards.

I was able to get this card together late last night. It came together very quickly. The image is a digital freebie that I coloured with Copic Markers. The DPs are a combination of Reflection papers from Michael's and one by K&Company. I added a diecut sentiment, a few gems & brads and some "faux stitching" to finish it up.
Thanks for stopping by. I'm having some trouble uploading photos onto my blog; hopefully it's just a blogger thing & not my computer! Until next time.....
hugs,
Nancy

Just a little Tag

Hope you're looking forward to a wonderful day. My project today is for the new challenge over at Meljen's Designs http://meljensdesignsdt.blogspot.ca/ . This week we would love to see "Tags". These are so useful and a great way to use up all those little bits of paper we all hang on to. That's exactly what I made mine from - all leftovers. I also used Meljen's image "Little Apple Worm". So fun & easy to colour up. This tag came together very quick and easy - I love it when that happens!
Well off I go, until next time.

Nancy

My First Christmas Card

I've had this cute little elf (by Mo Manning) coloured up for sometime now and just yesterday I decided it was time to make him into a card. I used a lot of punch work & die cuts on this card. My daughter is introducing me to Kreaxions' 4 in 1 punches, so I tried my hand at it. I used it in all the corners and the top and bottom of the center piece of cardstock. It's fun to use so you will probably see me using it often. I die cut the image and then hand punched the circles to make it look like a doily. The snowflakes are die cuts as well. I used Tim Holtz's Distress Ink on all the edges. Added some glitter, "faux stitiching" & buttons as accents. Sentiment is computer generated.
Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a wonderful day.
hugs,
Nancy

Enjoy!

Hi! I'm back with a second post today. It's been a very productive day. Helped my youngest daughter move her things back to her place after house-sitting for my eldest daughter. Came home and just finished making 3 batches of "Cherry Almond Jam", a dozen Cherry Almond Tarts and a Cherry Almond Pie. The jam jars are singing their "I'm Set" pop song as I type this. I love that sound! And believe it or not I was able to finish 2 cards! One I'll share right now since the challenge deadline is looming near, the other one I'll save till tomorrow.
This card came together very easily. I love it when that happens. The image (I think) is from Melonheads. It was a freebie, which I coloured with Copic Markers. The papers are a collection of scraps from my leftover box. The sentiment is a clear stamp that I got at Michael's. Finished this card up with some folder embossing and a couple of brads with clipholders. Inside this Birthday Card  I will include a Gift Card to a restaurant.
Well, that's it for today and it's only 2:30 in the afternoon! Lots of time left to accomplish a bit more, lol!

hugs,
Nancy

Song Bird

Good Monday morning to you all. Here in Canada we are celebrating "Civic Holiday" which means a wonderful day off of work for me. I love long weekends!
I am also delighted to tell you about a wonderful new challenge blog "Songbird Challenges" which is starting up today with their first challenge. I'm not sure what the challenge is, but I'm sure you can find that out by going here:  http://songbirdchallenges.blogspot.ca/
I do know that Meljen's Designs is their first sponsor so the prize will be absolutely wonderful! The wonderful ladies at Songbird invited us from the Meljen's Team to be Guest Designers for their premiere challenge. For my card I used Melissa's image "Victorian Bird Cage". I used Copic markers and paint pens to colour the image. The Dp's are MME. I simply added a few brads to finish this card up.
I do hope you will take some time to check out the Songbird Challenge Blog and enter a project of your own.

blessings on your day,
Nancy

Sunflower Card

Good Friday morning to you. Bet you're looking forward to the weekend...I know I am!
Today Meljen's Designs is the sponsor for the challenge over at the Card Crafters Circle and they have asked some us to be Guest Designers for their theme "Shaped cards". I chose to do a Sunflower shaped card with the Meljen's image Pumpkin Crow as it's center. To make this card I started with a circle card & punched out 13 smaller circles from the same coloured cardstock. I attached the smaller circles around the inside of the front of the card & then covered  it with another circle to hide where the smaller ones were attached. Because of the weight of the front of the card I also re-enforced the back by adding another circle of the brown cardstock to the back of the card.  Hope that all made sense...'cuz I feel kind of confused, lol. Anyway, the 4 dps are an assortment from my scrapbox. The sentiment is by Stampin' up. I added some "faux stitching" and lots of ink distressed edges.
Hope you'll take some time to check out Card Crafters Circle and make your own shaped card for their challenge. Just go here and check out the details: http://cardcrafterscircle.blogspot.ca/
Huge blessings on your day.
hugs'
Nancy

Something Sweet

Well, it's a new month & at Meljen's Designs that means Melissa will be giving us some wonderful new images to work with. Today, my card offers you a "Sneak Peek" by showing you one of those wonderful images. This one is called "Yummy Popsicle" Isn't it cute. I turned my into a Creamsicle but a Fudgy One would be fun too! Hey, if you are really feeling colourful you could make it one of those Rocket Rainbow Ones. That would be really cool! I used copics to colour the image with & lots of MME DPs to make this a fun, bright card. A few buttons, some "faux stitching"& a simple computer generated sentiment to finish this card off.
I do hope you will check out the new images...oh but you have to wait until Friday, August 3! Don't worry, that's only 2 more sleeps & I promise to remind you come Friday morning.

Until then,
hugs,
Nancy
