Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree

Here we go again - it's  New Release Day over at Meljen's Designs. Melissa has come up with a lot of cute images again this week. I don't know how that girl does it week after week...amazing! Anyway I've chosen to work with "Little Stuffed Reindeer". I printed him off 3 times, coloured them up and then fancy cut them out. The tree is hand cut & then folder embossed. The star was cut from a Sizzix die. The sentiment is computer generated. The ribbon with the attached stars I've had kicking around forever!. I used lots of dimensional (even layered them up to give the card lots of depth). I decided to make this into n Easel Card - it just seemed like the way to go!.
Thanks for stopping by (I know your life is busy too!).
Enjoy your weekend. I'll be off to help my granddaughter, Alanna, with a school project/ fund raiser. The project is to bring community awareness to someone or thing and to show that Everyone is a Someone ( there are no Nobodys). Alanna has decided to bring awareness to the Food Bank and is having a "Hot Chocolate & Bake Sale" with all proceeds going to our local Food Bank. Of coarse this Grandma has been busy baking all week to help her out and I'm sure she'll have me up to my neck in hot water tomorrow for all those delicious hot chocolates she hopes to sell.
hugs,
Nancy

Merrry Christmas! I got a wonderful Early Gift!

I'm glad you had a chance to stop by today. I love it when you visit! Today I have a card for this week's challenge at Meljen's Designs; a Sketch Challenge. I decided to go with the pre-coloured image  "Caroling Snowmen". ( I have been swamped with trying to pack & move my parents into an apartment and still holding down a full time job, that these great pre-coloured images by Melissa have certainly come in handy lately!). The Dps are by Basic Grey & American Crafts. I added a bit of tied ribbon to each of the over sized eyelets. The sentiment is computer generated. I added lots of faux stitching - it seemed to help tie the whole card together. I do hope you take a trip over to the Meljen's site ( http://meljensdesignsdt.blogspot.ca/ ) and try your hand at this fun challenge.

In my post title I mentioned an early Christmas gift ----I have been PUBLISHED! This is a first for me! One of my cards was chosen to be in the Special Edition of Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine. My card is featured on page 64, for any of you fellow Canadians who subscribe to it, or for any who would like to purchase it, it goes on sale in stores on December 1.
Well that's it for today. Hope you have a Blessed day.
hugs,
Nancy

First Snowfall

Hope you had a wonderful weekend.  We did have our "First Snow"! Totally unexpected...thankfully it didn't last long...though it did look really pretty.
This morning I have a 6x6 card for you that I made using the Weekly Sketch over at Fetch A Sketch. In fact I happen to be their Guest Designer this week. YEAH! How cool is that! Thanks ladies.
Check out their site right here: http://fetch-a-sketch.blogspot.ca/ and the great sketch for this week's challenge.I had a lot of fun with it.
The Dp is by Little Yellow Bicycle.  For this card I used the Pre Coloured image "Bundled Little Snowman" by Meljen's Designs. (Pre coloured images are a new area for me and I have to say that when you need a card in a rush or a tiny image coloured this is the way to go!) This Meljen image printed beautifully and I just have a very basic printer. I used a coloured paper doily behind the snowman and a combination of die cut and pearl snowflakes. The chip board sentiment is an oldie I've had for quite a while. I used lots of dimensional foam squares to add depth to my card and a bit of glitter glue squiggled around the front outside edge.

I also made a second card using the same sketch, but this time I stayed true to the exact sketch. Here it is:

For this one I used the Christmas traditional colours of red and green. The stars were cut from a Sizzix die. Added a bit of twine, 4 holly with berries brads, a gemstone and lots of folder embossing, faux stitching and ink distressing. Sorry the sentiment doesn't  show up very well in this photo. It is a Justrite rubber stamp with a scripture verse taken from the book of Matthew: It says: "When they saw the star, they rejoiced with great joy." The Dps and holly brads are by the Paper Studio.
Well, that's it for me for today. I do hope you will head on over to Fetch a Sketch:
and join in the fun this week.
Blessings & hugs to you all.
Nancy

Peek-A-Boo Card

Good Friday morning to you all. Hope you are looking forward to a wonderful weekend. It's been quite a busy week for me both at home & work so I am definitely ready for some "R&R". I actually didn't think I was going to get this card done on time for the New Releases at Meljen's Designs. It sure helped that Melissa had some "Pre Coloured" images in this group. Thanks Melissa...I couldn't have done it without your help! hugs!
As soon as I saw this "Peek A Boo Card" I knew I had to try it. I love it! There are so many fun things I can think of trying with this type of card...I can promise you you'll be seeing more of these.
So this cute little bird is called Chubby Snowbird - Bluebird and like I mentioned he came pre coloured. You can find him right here in Melissa's shop http://meljensdesigns.com/ . The DPs are by Basic Grey "Aspen Frost Colllection" The silk flowers and buttons are from my stash. The printed ribbon (I think) is from Michael's. I used a couple of Spellbinder dies to cut out the leaves, oval openings & the trim around the ovals.

Front of Peek A Boo Card

Here is a view of the inside of the card. The little Bluebird actually slides away and the Red Robin ( another one of Melissa's new images), slides in. Now, how cool is that!

Sorry this photo didn't turn out so well, but I wanted to show you the Bluebird disappearing and the Robin coming into view.
Well that's it for me for today. I hope you will get a chance to check out what the rest of the Meljen's DT came up with, the weekly challenge and the great sale Melissa has going on right now.

Blessings & hugs,
Nancy

A Just A Little Tag

Good Friday morning to you. So glad you took some time to stop by today. My post  features a tag I made for the New Release Day over at Meljen's Designs. Check them all out right here  http://meljensdesignsdt.blogspot.ca/
I used the image "Country Jam Jar". Coloured it up with my Copics. I cut the image & tag base out with the New BIG SHOT I WON AT OUR SCHOOL BAZAAR last Friday! (Talked about excited! I love it ....works like a charm).  I added an oversized eyelet with baker's twine to finish this up.
Well I'm off to help set up our Church's Float for our local  Santa Claus Parade happening this evening.
                                                           Blessings on your day,
                                                                       Nancy

Happy Fall

Hi there! Time for a new challenge over at Meljen's Designs and this week we would love to see your projects with lots of "Brown & Orange". Now you have to admit that's a pretty easy challenge considering what time of the year it is! Everywhere you look you see those 2 colours.
I chose to work with Meljen's image "Happy Fall Badge". You can find it under the Dollar Digis section right here http://meljensdesigns.com/
I used copics to colour with and added lots of glitter to give the feeling of "frost on the pumpkins". A couple of Spellbinder dies were used to cut out the image itself and the pretty hearts in each corner. I also used a glittery orange ribbon for the bow and added several orange stick pin flowers, ( I picked these up nearly a year ago & had forgotten all about the pretty little things!). Lots of faux gold stitching around almost everything and I love that the circle sentiment "Happy Fall" is included in this digi!
Well, that's it for today. Hope you get a chance to check out what the rest of the MD Team created. Can't wait to see all of your lovely entries in our challenge.
Blessings on your day,
Nancy

Give Thanks

Good Friday to you all. It never ceases to amaze me how Melissa, from Meljen's Designs, keeps coming up with these adorable images. Every week she presents the DT with a host of new images to work with. Thanks Melissa...like I said you're an amazing artist and oh so generous! You spoil us! If I've aroused your curiousity head on over to the Meljen's site to see all of this week's images:
This time I decided to work with "Scarecrow Mouse". Isn't he just the sweetest little scarecrow you've ever seen!?! I coloured him with Copic Markers. The DPs are by MME - All Spice Collection,
(I'm crazy about 6x6 paper packs). The sentiment is a rubber stamp that I got at Michael's, it has oak leaves and a pine on it also but I choose to cut them off and just use the words. Added lots of "faux stitching" & ink distressing, a shimmery bow and a couple of dimensional leaves ( that I've had kicking around forever!) to finish this card off.
Thank you for taking time out of your day to stop by my blog for a visit. I do hope you weren't disappointed but actually inspired to create something yourself.
Blessings on your day.
hugs,
Nancy

Tea For Two

Easel Card

Good evening. Just wanted to share with you a card I made for the Progressive Challenge over at CDAC. You can check out the challenge right here:
http://priscillastyles.ning.com/group/cdac-progressive-freebie-challenges
The images were provided by Priscillastyles and we were given about 2 weeks to complete our projects. At the end "Stars" are pick and are given a Badge to put on their blog. This time around we were given a Bonus image of a "Teacup".
I used Copics to colour the image & tried to match it up to the DPs.
Front Close Up

Added a few paper roses, grossgrain ribbon and gems to the front & inside the card.

View of Dimensional Used

On the front I used varying levels of dimensional on the front. Especially on the Teapot & front Teacup. The photo really doesn't show the depth the actual card has.
Well, that's it for today. Wishing you a wonderful day.
hugs,
Nancy

Hot Tamales!

Well, here we are...Friday again! That means it's time for some New Releases from Melissa over at Meljen's Designs. This time she has come up with some of the cutest little donkey images you have ever seen. I love them all! But settled on Fiesta Donkey to use on my card. Isn't he adorable with his little poncho and sombrero! I coloured him with my Copic Markers. The DPs are by MME - All Spice Collection. Added some pom pom trim and a computer generated sentiment. Hope you can find a few minutes to check out what the rest of the MD Team created with these new images. Check it out right here:

Have a wonderful day and blessings on your weekend.

Sweet Little Foxy

Well, here we go with a new challenge over at Meljen's Designs. This week we want to see "Critters" and boy does Melissa ever have some cute critter images for you to pick from. I chose to work with this Sweet Little Foxy. I thought she (he), would look cute as a Silver Fox so I chose those colours with my Copics. The DPs are by Authentique. The leaves & layered flower were cut using Spellbinder dies. I also rounded my corners with a corner punch. The sentiment is made up from stickers on the top of a pretty paper clip. Some simple twine was wrapped and tied one of the card front pieces.
Hope you will take some time to make up a project using a Meljen's critter of your choice and enter it in this week's challenge at http://meljensdesignsdt.blogspot.ca/ ...we love seeing your work.
hugs,
Nancy
