Giving Thanks Challenge

Hope you are looking forward to a wonderful day. since it is Thursday it's time for a new challenge over at Meljen's Designs. Today we would love to see your projects depicting "Giving Thanks". When you think about it we really have so much to be thankful for. I know bad/sad things happen and try to steal away our joy continuously, but try to think on the good; family, friends, food, a place to live, clean water, clothing, health, etc., I think you will find that we do have so much to be Thankful for.

For my card I used one of Meljen's pre-colored images "Harvest Cornucopia" . It made this a quick and easy card. The DPs are from my scrap box. The sentiment is a rubber stamp from Michael's. The maple leaves are buttons that I cut the back off of before adhering. Some ink distressing and stitching helped to  pull this card together.
check out the great projects by the rest of the MD team right here. Hope to see you project in the link up gallery over there as well.
Blessings on you and your family.
hugs,
Nancy

The Reason for the Season

Looking forward to the weekend? I am! Even though I have to work tomorrow morning, it will be good to get a bit of time to relax later in the day and on Sunday.
Today I have a card to share with you that I made using one of the images I recently one in a challenge. I don't often work with silhouettes, but I fell in love with this one and was anxious to  use it.
The DPs are a mix from my scrap box. I added a plaid strip of Washi Tape bordered with a bit of lace. The "Merry Christmas" sentiment [in the bottom corner] is actually a piece of printed ribbon. Ink distressed all of the edges and added a simple gem stone for the star. The sketch I used is the one that is this week's challenge over at Simon Says.
Well, that's it for today. Off to a crazy night at work. It's quite interesting being a school janitor during their annual Bazaa!
Be blessed and sending you a hug,
Nancy

Wishes For A... Merry Christmas

Sorry I have been kind of AWOL lately, but I have been very busy baking lots of fun sweet treats for my granddaughter, Alanna's Annual Hot Chocolate Stand. [Alanna is 11 years old and has been fund raising for about 5 years now]. This past Saturday she was able to raise over $800 dollars for our local Out Reach For Hunger. I am so proud of her! Hope you don't mind if I share a few photos of the day's events.

More Goodies!
The weather was perfect, the hot chocolate and goodies delicious and her customers extremely generous. An absolutely wonderful day!

So, now on to my card. A couple of weeks ago, I was blessed with a gift certificate to Eureka Stamps and this is the first card I've made with one of their adorable images.

This photo shows the removable tag on the front that has the rest of the sentiment on it.

For this card I printed out the image 5 times; once on plain white cardstock; the other 4 times on an assortment of pretty printed papers. I then coloured the Angel's face with Copic markers and fussy cut her out. Then I cut out the different parts I wanted from each of the printed ones, shaded them with ink and layered them with silicon [for dimension]. This way I was able to get the pretty print on her wings, and robes.
I used a couple of different Spellbinders' dies, a Tim Holtz's die and a Whimsy die to cut out the background, the holly leaves, flowers, the snowflake edge and the Merry Christmas sentiment on the tag.
I added some pretty lace, cording, antique pearl buttons, gross grain ribbon and lots of glitter to dress up my card. I also folder embossed the flowers before rolling up.
Loved working with this Eureka image and looking forward to working with the other ones I got!
Thanks for stopping by to take a peek.
hugs,
Nancy

New challenge at Meljen's Designs

The challenge this week over at Meljen's Designs is "In A Word", [use a 1 word sentiment]. I decided to use this Meljen's word digital image as the sentiment and focus of my circle card. For my card base I cut out the [attached at the top] circles from plain white card stock, just a touch smaller, then this pre cut DP by Little Yellow Bicycle. The sentiment image was cut out using a Spellbinder die. The flourishes and layered flower were cut using  Tim Holtz's dies. Lots of distress inking and some faux stitching too. I added a few pearls to the sentiment corners and to the flower center as well.
I have so much to be grateful for: I live in a wonderful country; I have a loving family; I serve an awesome God, who showers his blessings upon me continuously. I hope that you will take some time to reflect on the good things in your life. Maybe then you can draw a one word sentiment out of those reflections and make a project of your own to share with us on the Meljen's blog.
Until next time.
hugs,
Nancy

*** A Little Steam Punk Girl

Hi there! So glad you were able to get a few minutes to stop by and check out my blog. Today is my DT Day over at Meljen's Designs and here is the card I made to share with you. Melissa is always adding new images to the store... it amazes me how she comes up with all these cute characters! Please take a few minutes to check them out right here in the shop...you'll be so glad you did!
The image I choose to work with this month is called "Steam Punk Girl"  . She has been in the shop for a while now but I hadn't had a chance to colour her up until recently. [ My grand daughter was a Steam Punk Girl for Halloween and we used this image to create her costume!] Here is the card I came up with:

I coloured her with Copic Markers, cut her out with a Spellbinder's die and mounted her on several layers of assorted Designer papers. I used a few different dies to cut out and make the flowers, leaves, flourishes and decorative edges. Added a bit of detailing using a gold paint pen, faux stitching, ink distressing, a shimmery bow and an antique button.
Well, I hope this project was an inspiration for you to get creating and please share your work with us over at the Meljen's Design Challenge Blog, we really love seeing it!
Until next time.
hugs,
Nancy

*** Merry Merry

Well, here we are into November so that means it's time to get started on making Christmas Cards. Here is one I made for my Guest Designer spot over at the Scrapping Turtle.

This cute little snowman die cut I have had for forever! I saw a package of them a few years ago and fell in love with them. {I am a Snowman Collector, I have over 200 of them!} Anyway, in all honesty I didn't want to use these cute snowmen on a cards because then I'd have to give them away! Yes, I was being selfish and greedy, but I have since repented {he,he,he} and am now willing to share this little guy to brighten someone else's day.
This card came together very quickly...the MME papers, doily, wooden snowflakes, pearls and stamped sentiment all worked together so nicely. I added a bit of faux black stitching which helped to tie in the snowman's black hat.
That's it for me for today. Hope I've been a bit of an inspiration to get you started on your Christmas projects.
Thanks for stopping bye.
hugs,
Nancy
