Book Marks!

Well, it's time for a new challenge over at Meljen's Designs and boy do we have a fun one for you this week!
It's Bookmarks!
Here is what I came up with; it's for my darling granddaughter, Alanna.
Alanna is not fond of reading, but I thought this fun bookmark might be just the thing to encourage her. I'm giving it to her when they have "Grandparents Day" at school, I'm hoping to find a good book to go with it!
The image I used is Meljen's Designs "Book Girl" and I coloured her, to resemble my granddaughter in her school uniform, with Copic markers. All the supplies, {yep, the flower and button too}, used on this project are from my Treasure Box! Yeah!!! I hand wrote Alanna's name and did some doodling with a Sharpie Ultra Fine Tipped marker.
Now it's your turn. Just head on over to the Meljen's Challenge Blog. Check out some wonderful inspiration by the rest of the DT members and find out how to enter your own bookmark while your there.
Until next time.
hugs,
Nancy

Some Pretty Little Pansies

Good Friday morning to you all. Hope you are looking forward to a wonderful weekend. Here in Canada it is a long weekend, so I'm hoping to get a little "Crafty Time" in there somewhere, lol.
Today I would like to share with you a card I made for my Mom for Mother's Day. It's a real "hodge podge mix" of papers and embellishments I had laying around in my craft room and it feature's Meljen's Designs digital image "Pansies", which you can find right here.

I coloured the image with Copic Markers. I used several different Spellbinder dies to cut out the different shapes on this card, as well as a embossing folder, to add some detail to the main piece of the card front. I even inserted a bit of burlap to give it some more texture. I hand wrote the sentiment and added some faux stitching with a Sharpie ultra fine tipped black marker. A pretty lace bow and a bright pink button help to finish this card up.
Well, I hope I've encouraged you to look around your own Craft Room and see all of the supplies you already have and combine them to make something beautiful.
hugs,
Nancy

A Little Home Decor

Hi there, I just finished up a project I made for my granddaughter, Alanna. As soon as I saw Sherry Baldy's cute Alphabet Besties I knew what I wanted to make. I had to have a bit of patience waiting for Sherry to do all of the letters I needed -lol- which turned out to be just 3! Anyway,  here is what I came up with...

I printed out the letters, 2 to a page, so they are about 6" high. I mirror imaged the last "A" so the cute little Bestie would be on the end to add balance to the whole thing. I coloured them with Copic Markers. I then fussy cut them out and modge podged them to a piece of old white foam board. I ended up puttting about 3 coats of modge podge on the whole thing. Then I cut 1" strips from a piece of black foam board to make the frame, gluing it to the edge of the white foam board. I used an exacto knife to cut the foam board and an emery board to file the edges smooth. Even though it is long, nearly 2', it weighs barely anything so it will be easy to hang up in Alanna's room.
Here are a few more photos...

These cute little Besties are perfect for Alanna; a soon to be teen, who loves fashion, hair and all things girly!
This was a fun project to do; a bit of a challenge since there were only 3 letters to work with but I am pleased with how it turned out and think it will be a nice addition to Alanna's bedroom decor.
Thanks for stopping by to take a peek.
hugs,
Nancy

My A+ Grand Kids...

Hope you are enjoying your Monday. It was lovely here this morning, but now the rains have started! Oh well, guess that will make the flowers grow!
This morning, the school where my grand kids attend, {and I work}, held their annual "Grandparents' Day". They entertained us with music and a mini play; fed us with delicious soups, sandwiches and goodies and let us visit with our grand kids' in their classrooms. It's a tradition at our school that on this special day the grandparents bring a "sweet treat" for their grand kids. Even the kids who for some reason don't have a grandparent visiting find that they have a "Senior Friend", who is interested in seeing their school work, visiting with them and gifting them with some candy.  The kids and grandparents just love it and look forward to it every year.
I've also made up my own tradition concerning this day and post a layout of my grandkids on the door to my Janitor's Room. Here is this year's...

I can't believe how grown up they are becoming! My grand daughter, {grade 7},  is officially taller than me! And my grandsons aren't too far behind her! I am so blessed to have had the privilege of seeing my grand kids pretty much everyday of their lives. They know that I think they are pretty special, and ya know what, I know I'm pretty special to them as well!  I think that is why we have such a comfortable relationship with each other...we really know each other - the good and the not so good things as well!
Well, that's it for today. I hope I've encouraged you, not only in being creative in your paper crafting, but also in your relationships with the people you find in your life. Make the most of every day!
Until next time.
hugs,
Nancy

Oh So Sweet

Good Thursday morning to you! Hope you are looking forward to a great day.
Today I'd like to share with you my DT card for the new challenge happening over at Meljen's Designs. This week, {since this Sunday in North America is "Mother's Day"}, our challenge is all about "Mom"!
At church we have a few babies on the way so I decided to go with a card for a "New Mom". Meljen's digital image, "Cute Bun Baby", seemed like the perfect image to use. I coloured the image with my Copics, then cut it out with a Spellbinders' Die; adding a bit of fun doodling around the edge. The DP's aren't just "Oldie But Goodies"...they are "Ancient!" lol. I used a 3 heart corner punch on all of the corners and again went a little crazy with some more doodling! The sentiment was simply computer generated. The pretty frilly flowers I got at Walmart. It came on a spool like ribbon; I just cut off the individual flowers that I needed.
And there you have it! I hope I've given you a bit of inspiration to try your hand at making a card for your Mom/Grandma/Favourite Aunt/Special Lady/etc. and join in the fun of this challenge. Just head on over to the Meljen's Challenge Blog to see what the other DT members came up with and to enter your project.

Hugs,
Nancy
