*** Until we meet again...***

Mid week already! My how time flies! The weekend will be here before we know it!
Today I'd like to share a card with you that I made featuring 2 Tiddly Ink images. {After colouring them with my Copics I fussy cut them both out}. The cute little "Robin" is actually a wooden bird that I also coloured with my Copics. [I've had these little birds for a while now; so glad for a chance to use one].The DP is by BoBunny, [lovin' that 6x6 pack!]. I used a folder embosser on the cardstock background and then ran my brown ink pad over it to bring out the dots. The fence was cut by using a Tim Holtz's die. I also used Spellbinder dies to cut out the image background and leaves [maple & oak]. I distressed inked all the edges, added some faux stitching and a couple of buttons tied with floss. The sentiment was hand written, with a Sharpie Marker, and then punched out using a circle punch. I also used a corner punch on a few corners.

Enjoy your day.
hugs,
Nancy

*** Clean and Simple...not for me!

Hi there, glad you stopped by. Today I have a "Clean and Simple" card to share with you and I have to say it is the hardest style for me to achieve! I want to fill in all those spaces with colours and patterns and well, just things! For some reason, to me, it just seems to look unfinished. Don't get me wrong, I love the "CAS" look and when I see other crafter's CAS projects they are just so beautiful, but, mine always look so plain! Maybe it's because I usually work on 6x6 cards instead of going to a different size. I think I'll try that next time. Anyway, here is my card:

I did use an embossing folder on the squares, a bit of BoBunny DP, a single Leaf button and several tiny buttons on this card. The sentiment is a rubber stamp. I tried to control myself but I just had to add some "faux stitching". hehehe.
Until next time.
hugs,
Nancy

*** Thinking of You ...in shades of brown ***

Hope your Sunday is one of relaxation and rest. Ours has been wonderful! A great Sunday service, a delicious [and unexpected] lunch with our daughters, son-in-law and grandkids, a good visit, [over coffee and pie],with both sets of parents and now some down time at home. We are so blessed.
I'd like to share a card with you that I made last night. It features one of the lovely, whimsical images by A Day For Daisies. This one actually a freebie a bit ago. [If you are not already a follower of theirs, you should be...as you can see by this image it is well worth it].

I decided to go with a brown colour scheme, maybe because it is now officially Fall. As usual, I coloured the image with Copic Markers. The main DPs are by Little Darlings, Chocolate Covered Cherry Collection. This pack was actually a prize that I won in a challenge last year. I also used some MME DP as well. I used 2 different Spellbinder dies; one to cut out the image, it's matting and the stamped sentiment [ Stampin' Up]; the other to cut out the pretty border edging, that goes diagonally on the card. The satin ribbon, [strips and bow], is a "salvaged piece" from a Bubble Bath gift pack. A single button as the bow center finishes this card up.
Well, that's it for now. Have a great evening.
hugs,
Nancy

*** Take 5 Challenge

Good Thursday morning to you. Today at Meljen's Designs there is a new challenge and it's called
"Take 5". We would like you to use 5 of the same item on your project. It could be 5 of the same brads, or 5 of the same bits of ribbon or [like what I've done], 5 of the same Meljen image. I would with this cute image "Stitched Country Heart".

I coloured the hearts with Copic markers. If you take a close look you will see that I also used 5 DPs, although each one is a black & white print, each one is different & each one is a leftover from my scrap box! I used lots of distress inking on the edges and did some fun doodling around the outside edge. I used foam squares to attach the hearts to ass some dimension to my card as well. The sentiment is a digital freebie, sorry but I have forgotten who the generous artist was.
So there you have my take on "Take 5".
I do hope you will give it a try. For more great inspiration head over to the Meljen's Blog and see what the rest of the DTs came up with.
hugs,
Nancy

Friday 13th...

Hope you had a "Blessed Friday the 13th" without a trace of anything bad going on. Superstitions are silly but at least we can have some fun with them.
My card today came together without a hitch and was actually a lot of fun to make.

The image of coarse is by Tiddly Inks and I coloured her up with my Copic Markers. The DPs are a combination, some from Michael's and some from a 12"x12" pack my daughter, Jasmine, bought and so kindly shared with me. So I am not sure who gets the credit for it. I used a strip of Washi Tape [the black & white checks] on top of a strip of frayed burlap along the bottom of the card. I used a Spellbinder's Die to cut out the Black Cat DP & it's matting. The sentiment is a rubber stamp from Michael's that I heat embossed after inking. For embellishments I used a black feather, a star stickpin, 3 cute little pumpkin buttons, a paper bow, some faux stitching and a few gems dispersed throughout the top DP. I also added a bit of glitter to her wand and her shoe buckles. I adhered the image & sentiment with foam dots to give the card a bit more depth.

Thank you so much for all of your sweet comments. They are very encouraging.
Wising you a fun filled weekend.
hugs,
Nancy

Something a little different

One day I was browsing through our local Dollar Store and saw these cute beige coloured muslin aprons, but silly girl that I am, didn't buy one. A few weeks later, I was thinking about what I would do for my September DT project and immediately thought of those Dollar Store aprons. I rushed down to get one, and yep, you guessed it, they were all gone! I was so disappointed, because I had big plans for that apron! Anyway, every time I went back to the store I would check out the craft isle  hoping they would get in another shipment before my project was due. Every time I left disappointed. But, just this past week, they had some, only instead of being beige in colour they were black. I really didn't want a black one, but I bought one anyway and now I am so glad that I did!

Plain Black Apron with
4 Front Pockets Along the Bottom
I started this project by colouring the "Floppy Craft Bunny" image, which you can find right here in the  Meljen's Shop,  with my Copic Markers. Then, I matted it first onto black cardstock, then added a second matting of stripped DP, so it sort of looked like a card front.

I then scanned this into my computer and printed it on to transfer paper. [I just bought mine at Walmart]. Then using some iron on adhesive, [ the kind with the peel off paper backing], I adhered it to a piece of white muslin, following the directions on the package. [The white muslin helps to keep the colours bright]. After peeling off the paper backing, I positioned the image onto the front of the apron and again ironed it, adhering it to the apron front. To dress it up a bit, I sewed some pretty polka dot ribbon around the outside of the image and tied on some big red buttons with floss in each corner. I am really pleased with how it turned out. I love how it matches my Copic carrying case! What do you think?

Nancy

Thank You So Much

Hope you had a great weekend. Ours was fun, but it sure went by quickly!
Today I have a card to show you that I made using another one of the Tiddly Ink images. [I think this was a freebie a long time ago]. I used my Copics to colour her up with and added some line work to the flower petals with a white gel pen. I cut out a doily with a die I have and used a safety pin to attach the circle punched sentiment. The DP is by BoBunny. The shaped DP is from the Recollections Collections by Michael's [Harvest Delight]. The pretty Maple leaf ribbon and twine were found in my leftover bins, as was the big brown button! I distressed inked all the edges and added some "faux" stitching around the outside border.
Thanks for stopping by and blessings on your day.
hugs,
Nancy

Meljen's Designs' ABC Challenge

When I was checking out the up coming Meljen's challenges I saw that this one was called "ABC" . I started thinking "Back to School", and well, that seemed to be super easy. BUT, upon further investigation I discovered it meant to use items on your project that start with the initial of your first name! OK, so my name is Nancy, that means I have to work with the letter "N" and my mind went blank!!! I couldn't think of a thing that started with "N". Embellishments - nope. Colours - nope. [Well, maybe Navy Blue, but that wasn't very exciting!] Oh Nuts! What am I going to do? Then it dawned on me. Melissa has this cute little image of a mouse surrounded in nuts...we are going to stay general on this - I know they are acorns but today they are just plain old NUTS! So here you have it...My "N" Card:

I kept this card fairly simple, letting the image, the layout and colour choices do all the work. No real extras accept for some faux stitching. {I tend to do stitching a lot on my cards 'cuz to me it just helps to tie it all together}. The image was coloured with Copics. The DPs are by 7 Gypsies. I used a Spellbinder die and Creative Memories cutting system to cut out the shapes. The sentiment is computer generated.
I'm interested to see what the other DTs came up with. Let's see, there should be things that start with "R, L, S, C, maybe D". Should be interesting! What letter does your name start with? I'd love to see your project in the MD link up gallery; remember to let us know what you used featuring your initial.
Blessings on your day.
hugs,
Nancy

Happy Holidays!

They say it's never too early to start working on your Christmas Cards, so I decided to give one a try!

This card was a super easy one! The background is white cardstock that I used my Sizzex Snowflake folder embosser on. The polka dot DP was a leftover piece from my scrap box. The Santas are actually just a piece of printed ribbon, that I had purchased a few years back at a Boxing Day Sale! The sentiment is a clear stamp [from Michael's] that I heat embossed after inking. The cute little Holly Sprigs are brads, {again purchased at Michael's].
See, told you this was an easy one!
Thanks for all of your kind comments and for taking time out of your busy day to stop by.
hugs,
Nancy

*** It's A Cupcake Kind of Day

Happy Labour Day to all who celebrate it. Hope you get some time to just kick back and relax and take a brake from your labours.
Today I have just a fun and simple card to share with you. I've had this free digital image for sometime now , so I was delighted to finally be able to colour it up. Quick and easy with my Copics. I actually printed the image twice and fussy cut the cupcake top and then adhered it to the original image with silicon to raise it up a bit and give it some dimension. The sentiment is part of the original digital image. I cut it out with a Spellbinder Die. The DP is another golden oldie I've had for quite some time. I distress ink all the edges.
Quick and easy, which is always nice to do sometimes.
Hope you enjoy your day.
hugs,
Nancy
