Something a little different

One day I was browsing through our local Dollar Store and saw these cute beige coloured muslin aprons, but silly girl that I am, didn't buy one. A few weeks later, I was thinking about what I would do for my September DT project and immediately thought of those Dollar Store aprons. I rushed down to get one, and yep, you guessed it, they were all gone! I was so disappointed, because I had big plans for that apron! Anyway, every time I went back to the store I would check out the craft isle  hoping they would get in another shipment before my project was due. Every time I left disappointed. But, just this past week, they had some, only instead of being beige in colour they were black. I really didn't want a black one, but I bought one anyway and now I am so glad that I did!

Plain Black Apron with
4 Front Pockets Along the Bottom
I started this project by colouring the "Floppy Craft Bunny" image, which you can find right here in the  Meljen's Shop,  with my Copic Markers. Then, I matted it first onto black cardstock, then added a second matting of stripped DP, so it sort of looked like a card front.

I then scanned this into my computer and printed it on to transfer paper. [I just bought mine at Walmart]. Then using some iron on adhesive, [ the kind with the peel off paper backing], I adhered it to a piece of white muslin, following the directions on the package. [The white muslin helps to keep the colours bright]. After peeling off the paper backing, I positioned the image onto the front of the apron and again ironed it, adhering it to the apron front. To dress it up a bit, I sewed some pretty polka dot ribbon around the outside of the image and tied on some big red buttons with floss in each corner. I am really pleased with how it turned out. I love how it matches my Copic carrying case! What do you think?

Well Nancy, you did invite me to say what I think about your apron and I'm so pleased you did ..... my thoughts ... stunning, spectacular, absolutely beautiful. I love your apron, I loved reading the story behind it and I thouroughly enjoyed reading the methods you used to make the apron. I'm tossing up between two sayings that obviously apply to your story, mmmm you choose which you think fits best. 'All things happen for a reason' or 'the best things come to those who wait'. You weren't meant to have the cream aprons :-) Good luck in our challenge this week. Ingrid xx (OSAAT Team)
