Patchwork

I love reading stories about the Amish and this summer my husband surprised me with a trip to Lancaster County, PA. The drive down was so scenic and our time in the Lancaster area was wonderful. We even bought a beautiful hand made quilt for our bed! So with our new quilt in mind I came up with this card for the "Patch Work"Challenge over at Meljen's Designs.

I think I used 7 different DPs on this card...mixing and matching papers that worked together. An assortment of odd buttons, tied with gold wire, was adhered to the center of each square. For the center square I printed Meljen's image "Stitched Country Heart" 3 times; once on cardstock; and then on 2 different DPs. I cut the heart out of the DPs on different lines so that I could layer them and add shadowing and dimension. I faux stitched around each square to give it that quilted look. I must admit that this came together much faster than a quilt would, lol!
Well, I hope I've inspired you to try your hand at a Patch Work card. Just remember to use a Meljen's image. Hope to see you link up in the gallery.
hugs,
Nancy
