In the Garden

Just a quick and easy card to show you today. I simply folder embossed this 6x6 card with 2 different folders. A pretty greenery one across the upper portion of the card and a brick wall one along the bottom. Then I ran a green ink pad over the greenery parts and a brown ink pad over the brick wall part...instant scenery! I cut the butterflies out with my new Memory Box Butterfly die; cuts like a charm! I finished it off with a strip of music note Washi Tape and a sentiment...a rubber stamp that I've forever!
Thanks for stopping by.
hugs,
Nancy

A Couple of Cute Besties

As soon as I saw this Besties image I fell in love with it! Isn't it absolutely adorable! It was so much fun to colour up with my Copics as well. The DPs are by BoBunny and this 6x6 pack is wonderful...filled with beautiful Fall papers. I think they work perfectly with this sketch by "Seems A Little Sketchy". I did a fair bit of heat embossing, [in a bronze colour], along the bottom of the card, in both top corners, as well as the sentiment. By cutting the backs off of these cute maple leaf buttons I was able to adhere them in the corners with my glue gun. I used a lot of ink distressing on the edges and a bit of line doodling around the cut out image. I used a Spellbinder die to cut out the sentiment. Tied a pretty ribbon bow at the side to finish this card up. As with most of my cards this one is a 6x6 square.
Hope you have a blessed day.
hugs,
Nancy

*** Do What You Love...***

...And that's exactly what I did went I made this card:
And I hope to be able to continue to do it often! I love card making! Most of the time I find it very relaxing, yet invigorating, if that makes any sense!
Anyway, this card features one of the adorable digital images by Tiddly Inks. I used Copics to colour her. The DP is another leftover piece from my scrap box. I used  folder embossing on the blue cardstock die cut circle. I also used heat embossing on the sentiment {from Michael's}, and the 4 wooden hearts. Three pretty little blue buttons tied with floss, some striped ribbon, a bit of faux stitching [doodle lines] and a gold paper clip finish this card up.
Thanks for stopping by.
hugs,
Nancy

*** Time to hit the books!

Well, not quite yet, but a week from tomorrow the halls will once again be filled with students at our school and my life will take on it's 10 month routine. Where, oh where did the summer go? This year it seemed to fly by faster than ever!
This is my second post for the day and it happens to be a "Back to School" themed square  card. The image is by Tiddly Inks, the DPs are from my scrap box, [except for the self adhesive cork paper], the sticker [books] is ancient and the sentiment is hand written. The only little extras are some squiggly line work around the outside edges, staples in the corners, and floss bows tied to her pony tails. So here it is:
Hope you like it! Until next time.
hugs,
Nancy

*** Adorable ***

Hi there! I've got a couple of posts this afternoon. I wanted to get these cards in a few challenges that are coming due. So without further ado here is post #1 for today.
The image is a Bestie by Sherri Baldy. I coloured it with my Copics, The DPs are all scraps from my scrap box. I used an assortment of dies to cut out the fancy floral borders, the layered flowers and the sentiment. The sentiment is by Stampin' Up. The sketch is this week's challenge over at Bearly Mine. I ink distressed all the edges and used a folder embosser on the center strip of cardstock.
Hugs,
Nancy

Use a Fancy Font

Time for another new challenge over at Meljen's Designs and this week we want to see some "Fancy Fonts" on your projects {and a Meljen's image of coarse, lol}. For my fancy font I used a clear sentiment stamp that I have had for ages.

The image is Meljen's "Ivy Wreath" and you can find it right here. As usual, I used my Copics to colour it up. The DPs are from my scrap box but are by Authentique, their Essential Collection. I kept this card pretty basic, only adding a bit of glitter to the stars.
The rest of the team have come up with some pretty awesome creations. I hope you will head over and check them out. While you're there do a little browsing in the Meljen's Shop...remember Melissa has some really cute freebies for you to use to create your own project for this challenge.

Nancy

The reason birds can fly...

Well, we are off to another week. Two more and school starts. Then it will be back to routine. Summer just seemed to go by so very fast this year, don't ya think!?!
Anyway, today I have a card I made using a pre-coloured digital image by The Prairie Fairy. It is just so pretty and even came with this wonderful sentiment. And to all of that, it was a freebie! Thank you Roberta! {hugs}. I used several different DPs on this card, all from my scrap box. I think they are by Authentique.  I used  Spellbinder Dies to cut out the image and the layers for the flowers. An EK Success punch was used for the scalloped border [top & bottom]. I added some faux stitching with an Ultra Fine Tipped Sharpie Marker  and some metal brads to the flower centers.
So that's it for today. Thanks for stopping by.
hugs,
Nancy

Hi!

Hi! Hope you are looking forward to an enjoyable weekend. I think we will be hanging out with our grandkids quite a bit. Both boys are in ball tournaments on Saturday and Sunday after church we get to watch all 3 of them for a few hours. Should be a fun time!
Anyway, this afternoon I have another card to share with you. The image is by Tiddly Inks. I coloured her with my Copics and added some glitter to her hair and wings. I used 4 different DPs, which are all from my scrap box. I rounded the corners with a corner punch, that I have had forever! A couple of pretty buttons tied with twine and a rubber stamped sentiment finish this card up.
Thank you so much for stopping by.
hugs,
Nancy

She is clothed with strength...

This is a late night post because I really wanted to get this card  up on my blog and I know I  definitely won't have time tomorrow to do it.
I used a Spellbinder die to cut out this pretty image, which was a free, pre-coloured, digital download, {sorry I didn't record the source}. Being pre-coloured made making this card fairly quick and easy. It also helped that I had the perfect DPs to got with it! [Some are by Authentique and some are by MME]. I distressed al the edges with Tim Holtz's ink. I hand gathered a flat piece of grey lace to make the ruffle around the circle. I also folder embossed the background circle. Once again I used the pretty lace I bought at Walmart along the bottom edge, accenting it with some pink twine tied into a little bow with a pearl placed at it's center. The sentiment was hand written using a white gel pen on a "faux chalkboard" from the Chalk Studio by MME.
Hope you were inspired while visiting.
hugs,
Nancy

Birthday Wishes

Hope you had a wonderful weekend and a great start to your work week. And thank you for taking time out of your busy day to stop by my blog. Today I have a birthday card to share with you.
The image is by Tiddly Inks and I coloured her up with my Copics. I used a corner punch on all the corners and a couple of Spellbinder dies to cut out the image, the mat and the fancy corner flourishes. The DP is a leftover from my scrap box. The sentiment is a rubber stamp by Stampin' Up. To make the double orange ruffle along the bottom I used bias tape that I gathered up with thread, then I adhered a pretty gingham ribbon across the center of it. Added a few bright orange buttons, some faux stitching and a sweet acrylic bouquet of flowers.
Until next time.
hugs,
Nancy

*** Lift The Person Before You Challenge...

Well, today I am going to share with you a project I made for the challenge over at Clearly I Stamp. The theme is lift the person before you [the person who commented before you on the CIS challenge blog] and that person is Beth , from Beth's Beauties.
Here is her project that I lifted:

Isn't it just the cutest Baby gift bag. Love the colours Beth used and the fact that it wasn't a card was also interesting to me. So I chose to lift the colour "Purple" and the "Gift Bag" idea from Beth and this is what I came up with.

I used the sketch pattern from Twist of Faith to complete the front of my gift bag. The digital image I used is one of Sherry Baldy's cute little Besties, which I coloured with my Copics. I used a Spellbinder Die to cut out the image and it's mat as well as the leaves. The flowers are by Spare Parts. The pretty iridescent lace was purchased at Walmart, [it has a bit of elastic in it to give it some stretch]. The tying ribbons were left over pieces from my stash. The DPs I think I have had nearly since the beginning of my paper crafting days...yes they are old, very, very old!, but they still had a use and a good one at that! I did a bit of faux stitching around the outside. I decided to give her a bit of bling and added some glitter to her petticoats, flower and ponytail holders.
Here is the inside, which holds a gift card. I don't know why the DP looks different {front to back} because it is exactly the same colour - must have been the flash from my camera!

So there you have my lift of Beth's original project. Even though I was a bit apprehensive at first about this challenge it really has been a fun thing to do. I hope you will give it a try as well.
Thanks for stopping by.
Wishing you a wonderful day.
hugs,
Nancy

Actually, I am thinking of you and hope you are doing great!
Today I have my card for the new challenge up at Meljen's Designs to share with you. This week the challenge is "Wishing You Were Here". I used this sweet MD digital image "Mushroom Mouse" for the focus of my card. I coloured him with my Copics. The DPs are by Authentique's Hope collection. The cardstock is Kraft-Core by Tim Holtz's. Lots of ink distressing and faux stitching. Also added a few little buttons and a rubber stamp sentiment.
Be sure to check out the great projects by the rest of the MD DTs and then get busy creating a project of your own to share with us.
Until next time. Wishing you were here.

*** My First Bestie Card

Since it is late this is going to be a quick post. The image is by Sherri Baldy. coloured it up with my Copics. The sketch I used is this week's challenge over at Twist of Faith. The lace around the outside is actually an ivory colour {sorry, my scan didn't work real well. The scripture verse is by Stampin' Up. Added lots of distressing and real stitching. Used pretty pearls on her dress & shoes. Folded a flower in half and added it to my sentiment.
Heading off to bed so that's it for tonight.
Wishing you the sweetest of dreams.
hugs,
Nancy

ho..ho..ho!

Thanks for stopping by. Hope you are having a great evening. Tonight I'd like to share with you a card I made yesterday. With all the "Christmas In July Challenges" going on I thought it would be fun to colour up this cute digital image and get ahead start on some Christmas cards.

The image was a digital freebie from Bug a Boo Stamps, and I used my Copics to colour him up . I added some "faux snow to his Santa hat as well.  The DP is from my still over flowing scrap box. I used a Spellbinders' die to cut out the image and a mat for it. I also used a small circle hand punch to add the dots around the outside of the cut out image and mat. The white trim is actually extra wide rick rack. I added to pieces of red& white striped to the top and bottom of the accent piece of card stock. I glued several bright red buttons to each side of the image and finished this card off with a hand printed sentiment and some faux stitching, both done with ultra fine tipped Sharpie markers.

Sending hugs your way,
Nancy

You Are My Sunshine

Hi there! Just wanted to share a card I made trying out the Chalk Board look  again. I really like how this one turned out. The rubber stamp, {I'm sure I've got you all singing this old familiar tune},is from Michael's which I inked up with Versa ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. I used a white pencil crayon to fill in the sun rays and several of the letters in the word sunshine. I cut the sentiment out with a Spellbinders' die and added a few lines with the white pencil crayon. I kept the rest of the card fairly simple with just a polka dot DP background, a band of card stock [that I gave fancy edges to by using a Tim Holtz's die and wrapped with twine {top & bottom}], some faux stitching, a bit doodling around the outside edges and several antique buttons tied with twine.

Well, that's it for today. Hope you are enjoying a lovely weekend.

hugs,
Nancy

A Little Summer Time Inspiration

Good Friday morning to you. Hope you've had a wonderful week and are now looking forward to a fun and relaxing weekend.
Today is my "DT Inspiration Day" over at Meljen's Designs so I decided to combine a couple of my favourite summer past times into a project to share with you. And here they are...

Cherry Almond Preserves with Fun Labels

For the labels I used 2 Meljen's images. First I chose "Oval Cherry Frame" [which you can find right here]. Next I used "Cherry Mouse Coloured" [which you can find right here]. I used Paint.Net ,[which is a free download], and merged the 2 images together. I only had to colour the frame since the little mouse was pre-coloured! Next I cut the frame [with picture] out following the oval shape, matted it and then adhered them to strips of assorted black & white printed papers that I had in my scrap box. Then I made my jam. This is "Cherry Almond Jam" and it is extremely easy to make. Simply follow the directions found inside a box of Certo, except to add 2 tsps. of pure almond flavouring to the cherries when cooking. It is delicious! [Last year I made 12 jars and ran out! So this year I made 26 jars, so I should have lots to share with family and friends!]. I think the labels will add  a really nice touch to the ones I give away. Here is a close up.

Close up of label

Well, that's it for me. I hope you were inspired a bit to maybe try your hand at merging some of your favourite MD images together, or using an MD pre coloured images on your next project, or coming up with your own gift idea. If you are looking for just that right image check out the Meljen's Shop, you're sure to find a few [quite a few actually!], that you'll just love to work with.
hugs,
Nancy
