*** Scaredy Pants - Make A Halloween Card!

Happy Halloween to you. Hope all of the little ones have a fun and safe time collecting all their goodies. I really don't celebrate this holiday much more than buying some candy for my grandkids and the 3 neighbour girls...that's just part of the life of being a school custodian...gotta' work when everyone else is gone.
Anyway , here is my card for the "Scaredy Pants Challenge" at Meljen's. I think this one will go to my grand daughter, Alanna, along with a "Treat" gift card to her favourite store "Michael's"!

I used Meljen's cute image "Little Witch Hazel". she coloured up real quick with my Copic  markers. The DP is by MME. I added 3 of these cute little pumpkin buttons [I just cut the backs off before adhering], a couple of gem stones  and a hand written sentiment. Oh and a lot of faux stitching.
Be sure to check out the yummy "Treats" the rest of the Team has come up with right here and then share your own project with us on the Meljen's blog.
hugs,
Nancy

*** Happy Halloween!

I know that Halloween is actually tomorrow but I have my post for the new Meljen's Designs' challenge ready for then and I wanted to share this Halloween card with you. Plus I didn't want to post 2 cards on the same day.  Anyway, here it is...

I decided to do a circle card and used one of Sherri Baldy's cute Besties as the focus on it. I coloured her up with my Copic Markers; notice the purple eye shadow and ponytail high-lights and glitter on her crinoline. I used an assortment of Spellbinder's dies to cut out the card base [the orange cardstock is a piece I've had forever in my leftover box!], mats, background designer papers, rick rack trim, sentiment, leaves and flowers.

I actually did real stitching on this card and added lots of layers. I also used a bit of distress inking to the edges of the flowers and sentiment.

I used several gemstones, a couple of acrylic stick pin stars, black tulle [which I have had for what seems like forever!] and antique buttons as embellishments.
Well that's it for today. Hope you get a chance to stop by tomorrow and check out my card for the new challenge over at Meljen's Designs.
hugs,
Nancy

*** Harvest Blessings

Hope you've enjoyed a wonderful weekend. I had a long one - 2 extra days - because of a Teacher's Convention. Enjoyed some special time with my grandkids, SIL, daughter and my husband. It's so nice to have family living close! I think being thankful is what inspired this card.

The digital image is a wonderful freebie that I acquired from somewhere. [My filing system for digital images was non-existent. I thought I'd always remember who the generous artist was who gave the freebie; but I am finding that after you accumulate a few thousand of them, you kind of forget! But I am "working" on putting each artist's work into their own file. The key word in that statement is "working", lol]. Anyway, I coloured the image with Copic Markers, added some faux stitching around the outside, matted it with paper cut from a Spellbinder's die and adhered it with pop foam dots. I used several different DPs and some burlap to create the card base. Again I added some faux stitching. A bit of distress ink on the edges, a pretty gross grain ribbon and a digital sentiment all help to finish this card up.
Well, that it for now.
hugs,
Nancy

Give Thanks

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by today. I've got a card to share with you that I made as Guest Designer over at The Scrapping Turtle. This card was brought together by using one of the fun sketches Bev provided for us. I loved doing this card because I was able to use up a lot of bits and pieces of scrap paper! I used my Creative Memories Circle cutting system and a Spellbinder's Die to cut out the shapes. The sentiment is a rubber stamp that I bought at Michael's. Lots of ink distressing and a bit of twine finished this card off quite nicely I think. What do you think?
Thanks again for stopping by and for your kind, encouraging comments.
Hugs and blessings on your day,
Nancy

Trick or Treat

Hope you are enjoying a lovely Sunday evening. We had a fun afternoon celebrating our eldest grandson's 10th birthday. My, he is growing up so fast!
I'd like to share a card with you that I made featuring a Tiddly Inks digital image. I printed her off fairly big and then cropped her off close to focus on her face.

I coloured her with my Copic Markers. The DP's are left over pieces from other projects. I think most of them are by MME. I cut the image and matt out using a Spellbinders' Die, Added lots of faux stitching, a stamped sentiment and 2 gem stone spiders.

[Gem stone Spiders]

This was a fun and easy card to make up.
Thanks for stopping by. Until next time.

Nancy

Peek-A-Boo Challenge

When I saw that this week's challenge over at Meljen's Designs was "Peek-A-Boo" I didn't even associate it with Halloween and went off on my merry way and made this card. Now, I'm thinking maybe I should have gone with a Trick or Treat theme but, oh well, I didn't and that's just the way it goes. So here is my card:

I have lots of birthdays to make cards for so I went with that theme. Here is a picture of the hidden message on the pull out tag.

The image is called " Party Time Cat" and it was pre-colored, which made this a quick card to make. The tag was a pre-cut shape from Staples that I just stamped with a sentiment, matted a couple of times and added an eyelet to. A couple of pretty buttons and lots of stitching are the only embellishments I used. The DP is by MME.
I am sure the rest of the MD Team have lots more great inspiration for you over on the MD blog, so head on over and check them out. I'll be looking for your take on this challenge in the linked up projects over there as well!
hugs,
Nancy

My Hope

Yesterday, here in Canada, we celebrated Thanksgiving Day. I have to say that I am so thankful that I have Hope. Hope, that even when everything around me seems out of control and hopeless, I know without a shadow of a doubt that in the end all things will work out right for me. How can I have this Hope you ask; because I truly believe the words of this beautiful hymn: "My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus'  blood and righteousness". I believe that Jesus is the Creator, Author, Sustainer, Redeemer and Lord of not only me but all that exists, and even though we can mess things up sometimes [ big time], I trust that because I have put my hope in Him, He will see me through. That's not saying everything in my life is a "bed of roses', but that I don't have to get down [and stay down and go deeper down] when unpleasant things happen  that affect me and those around me. I have to admit I don't see how anyone can survive in this world without hope. [I don't think I last a day]. I pray that you have/will find this same hope.
Let me share this simple card with you.

The DP was gift from my daughter, Jasmine. I used some musical Washi Tape to divide up the card. The layered flowers were cut using a Spellbinders' die, distress inked and given a pearl center. The circle and butterfly were cut using Memory Box dies. The lyrics sentiment was simply computer generated. Here are a couple of close up shots:

Thanks so much for stopping by and may you find yourself truly blessed today.
hugs,
Nancy

*** A Stationary Set

Hi there! Hope your weekend has been wonderful. Here in Canada we celebrate Thanksgiving Day tomorrow so we get an extra day off from work. I love long weekends!
I'd like to share with you a Stationary Set I made using this tutorial from SCS , it took a bit of time [an afternoon] but I think it was well worth it and I think I will attempt another, maybe using some Christmas Papers.

The box has a removable top that allows the front of the box to fall open.

Inside the box holds 3 cards with matching envelopes, 3 - 3x3 gift cards, 3 tags, an address book, a place for stamps and a pen. I think this would make a lovely birthday gift.

I used only 2 full pieces of paper [12x12], {1 cardstock & 1 DP}. The rest are just scraps from the leftover box. Heavy paper is a must. I used an assortment of dies, ribbon, buttons, punches and rubber stamps to embellish and decorate the box. The cards feature a free digital image by A Day For Daisies.
I know it probably looks like this was hard to do but in all actuality it was quite easy, just a lot of pieces to cut, score and adhere. Like I said I will definitely be making a few more of these because I am so pleased with the outcome.
Well that's it for today.
Hugs to all,
Nancy

Another Attempt At CAS [clean and simple]

Happy Sunday morning to you. Hope you are looking forward to a wonderful day. I am! I'm in charge of childcare at Church today and we are going to make a fun Thanksgiving Day craft and have a special treat during snack time. I love hanging out with our little ones...they are such a great group of kids!
Since it is Sunday, that also means there is a new challenge up at the Scrapping Turtle and here is my Guest Designer project for the CAS challenge.

I think I like this one better that the one I did a few weeks back. It just seems cheerier and brighter. I think it helps that I used a striped piece of DP [ from my leftover scrap box] as the card base. The flowers were cut by using a Spellbinder Die. I used these pretty little floral printed buttons for their centers. The decorative edge was cut using a Memory Box Die. { I own an pre owned original red Sizzix, a Grand Caliber  and {won} a Big Shot, and I use all three all the time! All three are so great for die cutting and folder embossing. If you don't have one I recommend you get one...you won't regret it]. The sentiment is a rubber stamp. Again I did a bit of faux stitching to tie this card together and finish it up. Sure do hope you will play along with us. Check it out right here.

If you are a fellow Canadian I'd like to wish you a very Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving Day tomorrow. Hope get to enjoy the day with family and friends and have lots of turkey and pumpkin pie. For the rest of you non Canadians be blessed anyway!
hugs,
Nancy

*** Christmas Joy

Thanks for taking time out of your busy day to stop by. Today I would like to share with you an easel card I made featuring a Tiddly Inks digital image that I just bought; Winter Wryn.  I coloured her with my Copics and then fussy cut her out and attached her with a triple layer of foam squares to make this winter scene.

I used a Spellbinder's die to cut out the main white parts and used them as the base for this rectangle easel card. I matted them and formed the easel back with a cranberry coloured cardstock. I then traced the inside of the same die on to first a red printed DP [the wall] and a wood look DP [the floor] and adhered them to the center. I used a different die to cut the scalloped baseboard. Another die was used to cut out the window. I adhered a piece of snowflake DP the back of the window and then attached it to the easel front with foam squares. I used a Sizzix die to cut out the Christmas tree and another Spellbinders to cut out the pine bough branches. The big snowflakes were made using a Martha Stewart punch. I added a twine bow and button to the center of the pine boughs, lots of glitter to the snowflakes and a wooden star, some faux snow, "gem bulbs" and a hand cut pot to the Christmas tree.

I added a couple more die cuts to the base of the card and then mounted a free digital sentiment which I punched out with a circle punch to the center with more foam squares.

This card was a lot of fun to make, especially watching as all the pieces came together.
Thanks again for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
hugs,
Nancy

*** Whoop, Whoop! I'm Guest Designer over at Color Dare!

A few weeks back my  CAS card won the challenge over at Color Dare and my prize was a "Guest Designer" spot for their challenge this week. What a great honour! Thank you Marie and the rest of the Color Dare Team for granting me this privilege. I hope you like my project.
So, this week, over at Color Dare, the DT's would like to see you use "Cranberry plus One Other Color" on your project. [neutrals are also allowed]. Here is the card I came up with:

Since here in Canada we will be celebrating Thanksgiving Day this weekend I decided to do a card using that as some of my inspiration. Along with the Cranberry coloured card stock I used a Hunter Green, an Ivory and a piece of DP [ the poppies], all from my scrapbox! [love when that happens!]. As you can tell I used a few different dies; some Memory Box, some Spellbinder, and some Sizzix. I also used 2 different folder embossers. I hand stitched [using 3 strands of cranberry coloured embroidery floss] around the center die cut. I used the same floss to attached the sentiment label. The sentiment is a clear stamp by Inkadinkadoo, which I stamped using a cranberry coloured ink.
I'd like to thank you for stopping by today and hopefully you will take a minute or two to check out what the Color Dare Challenge Team have come up with over at their site. Hopefully you will even be encouraged and inspired to play along with us.
Until next time.
hugs,
Nancy

For You, With Love

Good Tuesday afternoon to you all. It's turned out to be a beautiful sunny day here in SW Ontario! I love sunny days, they just make even hard days that much easier to get thru.
Today I'd like to share a card I made featuring one of the adorable Tiddly Ink digital images. I love these images...they are all just so cute! I used Copics to colour her up  with. The DPs used are leftover pieces from other projects. I've used 5 different dies on this card. Most are by Spellbinder, thought the fancy edge is a Memory Box die.  I am trying to use up the ribbon, flowers and buttons in my leftover jars so this card has a modge podge of them for embellishments. Here is a close up:

The sentiment is by Stampin' Up.  I added some ink distressing and faux stitching to finish this card up.
Hope you have a blessed day. Until next time.
hugs,
Nancy

Keep It Square at the Scrapping Turtle

Hi there. This month I have the pleasure of being Guest Designer over at the Scrapping Turtle. Today I'd like to share with you a card I made for the "Keep It Square" challenge going on over there. [Hope you'll join in and play along.]
The digital image is by A Day For Daisies. I coloured it with my Copic Markers. The DPs are all "oldies but goodies"from my scrap box. I used several different Spellbinder Dies to cut out the corner flourish, the leaves and the layered flower.  Lots of faux stitching and a bit of line work on the leaves. I also used some Washi Tape to create the flat ribbon ends along the bottom of the image.A single button  for the flower center helped to finish this card up.
Thanks for stopping by. I do hope you will take a minute or two and head over to the
Scrapping Turtle to check out what their talented DTs came up with.
hugs,
Nancy

*** So Glad You Stopped By.

Today is my DT Day over at Meljen's Designs and so I'd like to share with you a Halloween card I made for my Mom. My Mom is 80 years old, but she is a "Young Girl in a Great Grandma Body"! Mom loves to be around people and looks forward to any opportunity to have some fun. Halloween has always been one of her favourite holidays...she has always dressed up in a costume just to hand out candy and she loves seeing all the little children in their costumes; she even buys a disposable camera to take their pictures! This past year Mom has moved into an apartment building that doesn't allow "Trick or Treaters" and that has made her a little sad. So to brighten her day I thought I send her this card along with a box of her favourite chocolates.

Here is a close up shot to show how I raised up the Pumpkins using foam squares.

What do you think? I'm thinking this will bring a smile to her lovely face.
The DPs are by Bo Bunny and the sentiment is a rubber stamp I got at Michael's [in the $ Bin]. I added some faux stitching and some distress inking to the edges. The 3 small pumpkins are actually buttons. The digital pumpkin images are of coarse by our talented Melissa and you can find them right here in the shop. The frighten one is called "Surprized Pumpkin" and the other one is a new image called "Top Hat Pumpkin". Both of these images were fun and easy to colour up. I also used a Tim Holtz's die [along the bottom edge] and a Whimsy Stamp die [around the sentiment]. A pretty orange gingham bow helps to tie this card all together.
Well, that's it for me for today. I hope you have a blessed week and don't forget about our Meljen's "Sketch Challenge" going on right now...we'd love to see your take on it.
hugs,
Nancy

Time For A Sketch Challenge!

Hope you are doing great today and that you are feeling up to a great challenge! Starting today, Meljen's Designs would like you to create something featuring this sketch:

Fun huh! I love all the layers! Here is what I came up with:

I decided to make a "Thanksgiving Day" card because I live in Canada and we celebrate this wonderful holiday in October. For the image I picked "Teddy Pilgrims" and coloured them with my Copics. I don't own a really big pretty die [and I didn't trust my shaky hand to cut out a nice shape], so I used this pretty "pre-cut" shaped DP by Little Yellow Bicycle, which I have had for at least a year! I did use a couple of Spellbinder Dies to cut out the image and it's matting and the flowers,[again using papers that I've had forever!]. It's kinda hard to tell from the picture but I folder embossed the cardstock base of the card. I added a few gem stones to the flower centers and some silver paint pen to the buckles on the bear's hat and shoe. I cut a strip of glittery paper and adhered it along the bottom.
For more inspiration and to enter your card in the challenge head on over to the Meljen's Blog.
Until next time.
hugs,
Nancy
